Workshop on the occasion of World Day Child Labor

SPCSN organized a half day workshop at Kathmandu with support from Save the Children on the occasion of World Day Child Labor against on 15^th June 2018. The program was chaired by the chairperson of SPCSN Mr. Badri Prasad Bhushal and the chief guest of the program was Mr. Ram Prasad Bhattarai; Director General of Department of Labor. There were 39 participants from various civil society organizations working for child rights as well as government stakeholders. The participants were welcomed by Ms. Dolma Tamang one of the member of SPCSN. The chief guest Mr. Bhattarai shared that as he has been familiar with the issue and will be focusing from Department of Labor to work on the prevention of child labor in coordination with all the organization who works for child rights. He said, “We must assimilate the people from different levels who have same interest to work for the betterment of children.” He also stated that the people are falsifying many situation to encourage child labor and there are many push factors which compels children to work as laborers and stay as street children. Sometimes the lack of government programs needs intervention for the children’s support from non-government stakeholders after rescue and also focus on reintegration and rehabilitation.”
