Advocacy Plan of Social Protection and New Action for 2019 Designed

As a follow-up plan, another round of meetings was conducted to amend and revise the existing advocacy plan which was conducted on 21 May 2019 at SPCSN Secretariat Office. The meeting had explored the gateway to introducing scientific and theoretical planning processes that would contribute to national advocacy on social protection schemes.

Hemanta Dangal, Senior Programme Coordinator of Save the Children mentioned the scientific way of exploring advocacy plan through desk review and age-wise vulnerability study i.e. Nepal Living Standards Survey Report, ILO, SCI and among others. Indicating towards poverty and vulnerability, it will enhance potential social protection issues and gaps that can be explored and addressed through Social Protection Civil Society Network (SPCSN), he added. Similarly, a priority set up will be another agenda so that member organizations of SPCSN can contribute to fixing short term and long term advocacy plans, he concluded.

Badri Bhusal, Chairperson of SPCSN, Saroj Nepal, Programme Manager of COCAP, Srijana Shrestha, Board Member of Women for Human Rights and Nabin Maharjan, Programme Coordinator of SPCSN were attendees of the event. As per the meeting held, the members decided to handover the responsibility to Coordinator of SPCSN to conduct desk review so that key social protection issues can be addressed. After analysing key social protection gaps, PC will showcase the existing gaps and priorities by emphasizing on longer-term and short term advocacy plans.
